5 Daily Habits To Crush Self-Doubt

standards of success balance your life, family and goals busy moms productivity organization hacks

Just a few months ago I felt like my life was in a rut and I was just coasting by. I decided to put action to the thoughts which had raced through my mind for a year. I made a list of changes I wanted to make in my life. I've been working since then to make those things happen for myself.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

One of my biggest hindrances was (and still is), self doubt. My Impostor Syndrome works overtime ya'll.We all have feelings of uncertainty that arise in our lives when we make decisions. Self doubt can prevent you from reaching your greatest potential and land you in a space of self-sabotage. Here’s 5 Daily Dos to help you fend off those feelings of uncertainty. Be forewarned, this is not a quick fix. It’s something you have to work at regularly until it becomes second nature.

Your Destiny Is Your Own. This is top dog super important numero uno on the list because it is the most important. Here the sitch, people only tend to show you the bestest (yes I know, that’s not a real word….just go with it ok?!) people tend to show you the bestest, most awesome and fabulous parts of themselves or their lives. Very seldom do you see the struggles that are happening internally or behind the scenes. You’re also not seeing what it took to get to what can be perceived as their “level of success”. Stop trying to live other people’s lives and live your own. What’s for them is for them and your destiny is your own. If you’re willing to put in the work, you can achieve your standard of success.

You Have Something to Offer.  I've realized we all have something of value to offer even if we think we don't "know enough" about XYZ. Being YOU is your super power! We all have a unique set of experiences in life and what we learn and how we grow from those experiences gives us a unique viewpoint that no one else has. This is your offering to the world. Don’t take for granted what you know and what you can share to help someone else.

Get Over Temporary Roadblocks. Can you think of a time in your life where you felt like whatever was happening to you then  was the worstest (yes I know, that’s not a real word….again, just go with it ok?!) most awful thing ever but, when you today think back at that time…. you feel like you seriously overreacted? Is it almost comical how foolishly you reacted? I can tell you, I’ve definitely been there. The point is, that was a temporary situation that you got past and moved on. Don’t let your past dictate what you can achieve in the future. You live and you learn, that’s the game of life. Excellence is the gradual result of always pushing to do better.

Yay for Today. Celebrate small wins. Don’t beat yourself up over not being able to achieve something the first time around. You have to crawl before you can walk. If you finished step 1 and step 2 but, couldn’t quite get through step 3, that’s still an accomplishment worth celebrating. Celebrating your small wins makes you feel good about yourself. You tend to appreciate a little bit more, what you had to work just a little bit harder for.

Surround Yourself With Positivity. It’s no secret that you need to keep a circle of positive encouraging people in your corner. In addition,  listen to encouraging people via podcasts or other online platforms. This helps you see that you are not alone in your feelings and can help  you see light at the end of the tunnel by seeing someone who’s been where you’re trying to go.

Have you ever doubted yourself or your ability to achieve your goals? How did you overcome it?

Living In a Rut to Living Your Best Life

Is your life unfulfilled? Are you coasting?

is there something you want to do to get out of this rut but, not exactly sure what that is?

Well guess what, we’re in the same boat. I’ve felt this way for a while but hadn’t buckled down and decided to make a change until recently.

I then had to ask myself:

  • how do I make this change?

  • How can I start improving my life?

  • What is my definition of success?

Success is something that each individual person has to decide for themselves. It’s not the same for everyone. Success is not always financial although that’s what most often comes to mind when we think of success. We can strive for success in any area of our lives.

Success is having achieved or accomplished an aim or objective.

Make a list of things or situations you want to change. Putting these things out into the universe is a way to hold yourself accountable to make these things happen. I’m letting whoever reads this blog know what I want to do and how I hope to do it. If you’re reading this and you want to join me, lets get to it.

Here’s what I want to improve:

· Knowledge

· Self-Doubt

· Productivity at Home

· Get Social

· Finances

Did you make a list too? What’s on yours?

Now break down exactly what you want to see improved in each category. Here’s mine.

Knowledge. I just want to learn new things and new skills. Anything from skills that can enrich my knowledge at work areas to even learning more about social media. I am not great at social media. I have general knowledge of it but, I only know how to do the basics. Let me let you in on a secret, I’ve never had a Facebook. I am practically clueless on how it works. I’m sure it’s because I don’t make an effort to learn how to use it. This is just one example of how I want to increase my knowledge and broaden my perspective.

Self-Doubt. Are you notorious for getting in your own way? Me too. Have you ever thought to yourself when confronted with uncharted territory:

  • Do I know what I’m doing?

  • Can I do this?

This is literally how I feel right now while trying to blog. Do I know how to start a blog? I definitely want to get away from this habit. It can surely be a hindrance.

Productivity at Home. This is open ended. We might have several areas at home that we want to increase our productivity. I am proud of myself because I’ve made strides in this area in regards to getting good meals on the table for my family. Here’s the sitch, I do not like to cook. If I didn’t have a family, I would probably never cook. I had been guilty for a long time of taking the “heat and serve” route and eating out. Not that there’s anything wrong with that…. in moderation. It’s not that I don’t know how to cook, I’m no Betty Crocker but, I can prepare a tasty dish. I just don’t like cooking especially when I come home from work. I want something easy peasy. I‘ll discuss in a future blog post how I’m getting past this obstacle. So, maybe you want to be more productive with your housework… cleaning or doing laundry or whatever it is. I’m sure it can be done even for those of us who dread it the most.

Get Social. I like to think of myself as an introverted extrovert. I am truly the type of person who is reserved until I know you. Once I’m familiar with a person or situation, I’m very social. I admittedly don’t make an effort to get out of my comfort zone and hop into new social situations. I like to go for what I know. I’m not a fly by the seat of my pants kind of girl. Hence, why I believe I don’t know much about social media. In my mind, anyone who I truly want to connect with, is someone I should probably know outside of social media. Like we talk or text each other. Not just communicate online. I do understand however, that you can often meet new people online that you can connect with offline. I think this one, along with combating self-doubt will be the most challenging for me.

Finances. In a nutshell, I want to rid myself of consumer debt and create other streams of income besides my traditional 9-5. This is currently a work in progress for me. Financial success is last on my list because, I’m thinking if I conquer the others it may lead me on a path to improvement in this area.

There it is. I’ve written it down. I’ve put it out there. I feel anxious now because I must be accountable for these things since I’ve just told everyone. Lets move forward to learn and grow together.

How will you start improving your life?

Helpful Tips to Become Smarter & Broaden Your Perspective

So you wanna be smarter than the average bear (shout out to Yogi)?

So in my previous post I talked about how I was going to set me up to achieve my standards of success. I made a list (hopefully you made yours too) of areas in my life that I wanted to improve ultimately bringing me closer to the life I wanted for myself. At the top of my list was “knowledge”. I wanted to improve my knowledge and skills in different areas. As moms, we always stress to our children the importance of learning but, how often do we take our own advice? I’ve come up with 5 tips to help increase your (and my) intelligence, make us smarter. I find it especially helpful for us busy moms, who might not always have the most time to spare in a day.

Reading.

This is an oldie but a goodie. I’m sure you’ve heard as much as I have how reading makes you smarter. Well of course, its true. Now I must be honest, in recent years, this has not been something I’ve practiced. I used to read often, I don’t know what happened. Unfortunately, I’ve found it’s not the easiest thing to jump back in to, my concentration was way off at first. It was weird, I have no problem concentrating on my day to day work but, something as simple as reading a book was not going well. This is what happens when you don’t regularly exercise certain muscles in your brain. It’s definitely gotten better but, started off kinda shaky. I know some of you may be saying, I don’t always have time to sit and read either. In comes my next tip.

Podcasts/Audiobooks.

You my not always be able to sit down and read but, you can listen while going on with your regular day’s activities. Driving, cleaning, cooking, working etc. Since I’ve discovered the awesomeness of podcast I absolutely feel like I’m becoming smarter. There’s pretty much and audiobook or podcast on every subject imaginable. I feel so inspired and ready to start knocking out my goals one by one whenever I listening to podcasts. I enjoy hearing varying thoughts and opinions on question people may often ask or problems people try to solve. What are some on your favorite audiobooks and podcasts?

Search Engines.

This is one we’re all probably always utilizing but, it works that’s why it’s often a “go-to”. You can google anything and find information on that subject. Now of course, we can’t always take everything we read online as gospel but, definitely the good outweighs the bad. Aside from Google, one of my favorite search engines is Pinterest. I’ve always had a Pinterest but, I would often only use it to find designs for something I wanted to do or to look for recipes to cook that won’t take forever to prepare because I don’t want to cook to begin with its not my fav….. ok now I’m going off on a tangent, that’s not what this is about. I have found Pinterest to be so helpful in many other ways. I’m new to blogging and I’m not that great at using social media platforms so, on Pinterest there is a wealth of knowledge on these subjects and usually a blog article to go with it. I love it.

Classes, Seminars, Conferences.

standards of success balance your life, family and goals busy moms productivity organization hacks

Now these usually take a little more time and are often associated with a cost but, can be so worth it. If you’re a working mom who’s ever taken CE classes to improve your professional knowledge which could help improve your pocketbook…. lets apply the same principles to improving your personal knowledge. Say for instance you already have a favorite podcast you like to listen to, the author might host a seminar or conference you could attend. At least you’d know beforehand that your pretty much going to enjoy the topics of discussion and delivery of information. You also have the opportunity to be in the company of like minded people to hear their background and how their journey brought them to the same place as you. With some classes and seminars you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your own home, they’re online. These can do wonders for increasing your wealth of knowledge.

Talk to Others.

standards of success balance your life, family and goals busy moms productivity organization hacks

For me this easier said than done. I call myself an introverted extrovert. I sometimes find it difficult to be in social situations with people I’m not familiar with. I really want to step my game up in this area. If you’re able to talk to people working or living in a field or area that you are interested in learning about it could be invaluable. Most often, just a conversation won’t cost you anything but time. When you’re discussing what you love, what’s time? You can connect with people online or even in person (like at seminars, conferences, classes). You’ll be surprised what people are willing to share if you just ask. Note to me, please take your own advise.

Are you ready to start building a better you? After all, knowledge is power.
